During 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. At that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" which was utilized to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism really impressed a lot of customers and thus, the name was established.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the demand for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the requirements for new machines to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For instance, Genie went into making light towers, man-lifts, articulated booms, telehandlers and stick booms.
Because of the economic recession in the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to secure a partner who held the same values. They partnered up with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers across the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the initial years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand name.
Genie takes pride in listening to their clients. The company is dedicated to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also committed to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machines.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machines are emission-free, quiet machines capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the equipment must be driven significant distances, such as in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the benefits of a 48V DC machine with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach, compared to any of the different aerial platforms. These equipment are ideal for limited access areas or small areas in all kinds of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to offer utmost productivity. These machinery provide supreme traction and the drive speed you need to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
