Types of Aisles
Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to work in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whereas Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn in the aisle. There are some aisle widths to take into consideration with different units.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks could work in less than 6 feet areas, while several will utilize particular guidance systems like rail, wire or optical systems in order to travel in the aisles. Some various models of VNA trucks include Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are common models in tight retail spaces and in some storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks could operate in aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Normally these are stand-up units such as Reach Trucks. They are commonly used in warehouses and storage facilities.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work in aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard which is designed to reduce operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is really large and has an 8" low step height that helps lessen overall body fatigue by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest along with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and hence more productive while limiting exhaustion.
