How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Many people value the ease of using a scissor lift. The ease of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket provide a lot more piece of mind than attempting to carry out a similar task utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the right alternative for performing jobs from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries would need to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
The equipment needs to be positioned near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located near the charger or the control box, in the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Normally, older models will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area which is well ventilated and after that plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger can likely happen.
